ABOUT COPELAND RESEARCH As a researcher with a strong background in politics and policy, I am uniquely qualified to examine and analyze public information and translate that data into politically useful and accessible documents for a campaign. My research reports are written in easy to understand language and with a political interpretation that will assist the campaign in using the information right away. I have played major roles in eight statewide campaigns in Virginia, including directing the 1996-coordinated campaign for Clinton/Gore and US Senate candidate Mark Warner. Warner went on to be elected the Governor of Virginia in 2001. I was Chief of Staff to Lieutenant Governor Don Beyer for four years, and worked on his 1989 and 1993 election campaigns. I managed the Lieutenant Governor’s legislative agenda for all eight years in office. Most recently, I directed the research and policy effort for Creigh Deeds for Governor during the successful primary and went on to assist with policy and research during the general election. From 1997 through 2002, I served as the Virginia Senate Democratic Caucus Director. As a one-person operation, I was responsible for policy development, candidate recruitment, and fundraising and election efforts. I oversaw and personally conducted the opposition research in eleven special elections and one Senate-wide election cycle. I am a founding member of The Farm Team, a Virginia PAC focused on recruitment and training of women candidates at all elected levels throughout the state. |
